Details: Hey yall! 🎨✨ Come celebrate with me at my very first art exhibit! Okay, so “Automatic” technically opened a few weeks back, but who’s keeping track, right? Time’s just a concept anyway! Whether you’ve already checked it out or not, I’d absolutely love to have you there on March 30th to mark this special moment with me. I’ll be honest, putting this exhibit together was rough to say the least—I wasn’t sure I could pull it off. Or if I even wanted to….. But thanks to the incredible support from my amazing friends and family (and lots of prayers), we made it happen! So let’s toast to creativity, friendship, and the beautiful chaos of making art happen. Can’t wait to see you there! 🥂

Welcome to The Rebellion

In a world consumed by hustle and relentless pursuit, I find solace in the vibrant chaos of color. My journey back to painting is not just a return to my artistic roots but a deliberate act of reclaiming joy and balance amidst the clamor of modern life. As I navigate the realms of entrepreneurship through creativity and mindfulness, I’m reminded of the importance of preserving the whimsy and spontaneity that fuels true creativity.

“The Rebellion” encapsulates the struggle of losing oneself in the monochrome demands of society, a disconnect from the kaleidoscope of our own essence. It’s a whimsical nod to the battle against conformity, where the allure of grayscale and neutrality threatens to dull our spirits. Yet, like a stubborn splash of color, joy always finds its way back, disrupting the monotony and reminding us to embrace the messiness of life.

Most of my paintings were actually created in a space of innocence – prior to me even understanding what “Burnout” was. They are snapshots of moments untainted by the weight of expectation, moments where creativity flowed freely without the burden of productivity. These paintings, displayed here, serve as gentle reminders of that purity, urging us to reconnect with our innate sense of wonder and play.

My art is not just visual expression but a manifestation of resistance against the hustle that leads to burnout. It serves as a testament to the power of reclaiming our innocence, our joy, and our authenticity. Through my paintings and my forthcoming venture, “Business Without Burnout,” I seek to spark honest conversations about the perils of relentless productivity and champion a more mindful approach to both creativity and entrepreneurship.

In the midst of deadlines and expectations, I invite you to join me in this vibrant rebellion, where the brushstrokes of color become our manifesto, and the canvas our sanctuary. For in the chaos of creation lies the true essence of being alive.

Hey I’m Sydnea!

As a Brand and Marketing Strategist and yoga teacher, I’m deeply immersed in creativity and mindfulness. However, painting has always been my first love.

Returning to painting isn’t just revisiting old passions; it’s reclaiming joy and balance amidst modern chaos. As a professor of Graphic Design and Entrepreneurship at Howard University, I find joy in guiding students through their creative journeys, infusing mindfulness practices into their learning.

“The Rebellion,” shown this year at Artomatic, symbolizes the struggle against conformity and the importance of embracing our essence’s kaleidoscope. My paintings serve as reminders of the purity of expression, urging us to reconnect with our innate sense of wonder and play.

Delving back into painting, I’m embarking on a journey of self-discovery and rediscovery, guided by mindfulness and fueled by authenticity.
